The elegant Pantop line was designed by Verner Panton in 1980, and has for a long time been a staple of the Verpan collection. Pantop is characterized by a bell-like, widely flaring shade which is mounted with the aperture facing down.

The new Pantop Portable is a modern version of the Pantop design that uses modern materials and technologies. Something that Panton himself always sought.

Pantop Portable adds a level of ease of use and flexibility that allows you to take the light with you—from room to room, and create the desired atmosphere wherever you are. With seven hours of operating time, Pantop Portable allows you to enjoy the flexibility of light for an entire evening where there is no access to power.

The three-stage dimmer allows you to adjust the light level to the desired atmosphere and setting.

Verner Panton
Verner Panton (1926 1998) is considered one of Denmark's most influential 20th-century furniture and interior designers. During his career, he created innovative and futuristic designs in a variety of materials, especially plastics, and in vibrant and exotic colors.

Panton studied architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Art (Det Kongelige Danske Kunstakademi) in Copenhagen, graduating in 1951. During the first two years of his career, 19501952, he worked at the architectural practice of Arne Jacobsen, another Danish architect and furniture designer. He then started his own design and architectural office.

Like many iconoclasts, Verner Panton was rarely content with making a safe choice at the expense of his vision. During his career, his architectural plans included collapsible houses and chairs with no legs. In 1960 Panton was the designer of the very first single-form injection-moulded plastic chair. The Stacking chair or S chair, became his most famous and mass-produced design. Panton was an exciting and controversial figure in the 1960 world of design. What is not up for debate is the depth of his legacy. His psychedelic shapes have come to characterize the era and his playful designs only seem to improve with time.
