Named after the Danish word for 'Wait', the Vent stool was originally designed for museum-goers. A place to have a seat while allowing the impressions to sink in. Now, Vent has developed into a two-seater with the same minimalist expression, the same strong craftsmanship and the same sculptural feature. The woven seat is made in Denmark in collaboration with 'Blindes Arbejde', a sheltered workshop for people who are blind or partially sighted.
Skagerak by FRITZ HANSEN is based on the love of wood, proud traditions of craftsmanship and respect for the sea and for the history of seafaring. The values and traditions absorbed from these sources have been crucial in all my family's endeavors, even as far back as the 19th century, when my great-great grandfather, Soren Mollebygger, built the first sawmills for sawing and working up the flotsam and jetsam of the shipwrecks, all too frequent at that time, on Skagen Odde. These raw materials provided the basis for the joinery skills for which Skagen is widely known and which live on in Denmark's carpentry traditions. Skagerak by FRITZ HANSEN is the product of generations of our family's passion for wood and it all began with driftwood.
