During the 1990s, Kasthall's Head of Design Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg created a rug to show the endless possibilities of combining colors and patterns within a Kastall pattern family; the Häggå family. The no-name rug was placed on the front page of a Kasthall catalogue that same year, thus the name. After the rug was shown, it has been woven in different color combinations over the years. So often that it has become a hallmark for Kasthall.
Between 1987—2015, Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg, was the Lead Designer of Kasthall. She has designed most of Kasthall's classic collections, such as Moss, Fogg, Häggå and Tekla, and she has been awarded numerous prestigious design accolades—most recently the Elle Decoration "Designer of the Year" award in Sweden.
During Gunilla's 28 years at Kasthall, she played a significant role in driving the designer brand forward and is often referred to as 'The Queen of Swedish Rugs'. In December 2015, she passed away after a hard fought battle with cancer. Gunilla will always be a significant part of Kasthall and her timeless designs will remain relevant for generations to come.

However, this is what Kasthall represents: time for reflection, a longer perspective. Kasthall have been producing exceptional rugs, carpets and runners for over 130 years. They are united by a passion for the task: to create a rug that is unique, durable and irreplaceable.
