PM-02 is a simple, elegant table lamp designed by Paul McCobb, a renowned American mid-century designer with a Scandinavian design feel. This product is a continuation of Paul McCobb's Planner™ series, a line of simple, practical, moderately-priced products from the 1950s.
Proving that simple can be beautiful, the thoughtful, practical design emits diffused light from its hand-blown opal glass shade to create a warm, atmospheric glow. The three-legged base in solid untreated brass or black lacquered steel provides an elegant contrast to the cylindrical shade.
Ideal for rooms where space is at a premium—or to update a room without the splurge—the PM-02 table lamp may be small, but it makes a big impression: the subdued silhouette beautifully illuminates any setting, from desk corners and bedside tables to hallways and counter tops.
The table lamp has an opal glass shade and available in two base variants: Untreated solid brass (which beautifully patinates over time and with use) or black lacquered steel.
Paul McCobb’s innate understanding of perspective paved the way for a career as one of the most important design figures of his time. The self-taught designer's pragmatic yet perfectionist nature was reflected in his work, characterized by slender, graphic lines, a simplicity of form and lightness of design. His trademark scale and perspective imbued his no-nonsense designs, which focused on simplicity and functionality, pared-back to their purest forms.
Paul McCobb moved from Boston to New York to pursue his dream of becoming a designer. When it came to design he was completely selftaught but his profound understanding of perspective paved the way for his emerging career as one of the most important designers of the time. Perspective and scale in particular became a trademark for McCobb, whose tables, shelves and even lamps were the result of meticulous attention to the room the design would inhabit. Thin lines, simplicity of form and a distinct lightness characterise the works of Paul McCobb. He was a realist and a perfectionist and his design pieces are a clear reflection of his personality.
